Strikes and Tykes Bowl-a-thon and Billiards Benefit Raises Funds for Children in South Jersey with Cancer.
(PRWEB) January 21, 2005 -- Strikes and Tykes is an easy way for the whole family to contribute to the well-being of South Jerseys children while enjoying snacks and music, winning prizes and having a great time, said Executive Director Kory Michael Aversa.
Sign-in begins at Noon. Bowling and billiards begin at 1pm. Participants who raise or donate at least $50 will enjoy three games of bowling or those who raise at least $35 will enjoy two hours of billiards. Everyone receives pizza, soda, snacks and incentive prizes. Participants will also win t-shirts, buttons, coolers, movie tickets and shopping sprees to local stores, based upon on how much money they raise. Prizes also will be awarded to the child, adult and team that raises the most money and bowls the highest score. B101.1 FM and the Buzz Bee will meet and greet participants with a live remote, photo opportunities, games and special prizes. Nutty Nora, the Science Explorer, will "edu-tain" children and hand out science experiments. Other entertainment includes arts and crafts and a silent auction.
Our bowl-a-thon continues to be a resource for children when no other avenue exists, said Executive Director Kory Michael Aversa. Our bowlers donations have been used to make vehicles wheelchair accessible for small children, provide glasses for low-income youth and send kids with cancer to summer camp with their siblings. Money raised stays local to help provide for our childrens well being.
Strikes and Tykes is presented by the Childrens Healthcare Foundation, with support from Acorn Dental Associates, PA, B101.1 FM, the Childrens Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital, Curious Parents Magazine, Garden State Discovery Museum, the Insurance Office of America, Wal-Mart and Whole Foods Market.
The Childrens Healthcare Foundation of South Jersey and the Insurance Office of America present Strikes and Tykes: Bowl-A-Thon & Billiards Benefit for SJs Children on Saturday, February 26, 2005, from 1-3pm at the Playdrome, 1535 N. Kings Highway, Cherry Hill. Proceeds from the event will be used to help fund a camp for children with cancer and their siblings, send ventilator children to the shore, and provide scholarships for children with learning disabilities. A portion of funds raised will help other individuals and organizations in need through the Foundations grant-making program. More than 120 people from South Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the Delaware Valley are expected.
The Foundation was formed in 1986 to sponsor programs and services that benefit the health, development and other needs of South Jerseys children, as well as advance and support South Jersey health facilities, research and resources.

"Strikes and Tykes" kicks off a year of special fundraising events to support pediatric health grants. On Wednesday, March 9, 2005, families go "Out of This World" with SJ Kid's Health Night at Sesame Street Live on opening night of the show. Tickets are up to half price for lower level, center section seats.
